NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that pursuant to Section 10 of the Municipal Home Rule Law and the provisions of Section 512 of the Real Property Tax Law of the State of New York, the Town Board of the Town of Newport will conduct a public hearing at the Newport Town Hall, 2788 Newport Road, Newport, New York, on Monday, March 13, 2023 at 7:15 p.m. to consider enactment of a local law to change the date of “Grievance Day” of the Board of Assessment Review in the Town of Newport from the 4th Tuesday in May to the 2nd Wednesday after the 4th Tuesday in May.  For example, if enacted, Grievance Day in the Town of Newport in 2023 would be held on May 31, 2023. Section 512 of the Real Property Tax Law authorizes such change where the governing body of the assessing unit employs an assessor who is at the same time employed by another assessing unit.

The public is invited to attend and all interested persons will be heard at said time and place.
