    2018 ANNUAL ELECTION OF THE POLAND JOINT FIRE DISTRICT

      NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN  that the Annual election of the Poland Joint Fire District will take place on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 between the hours of 6:00 p. m. and 9:00 p. m. at Poland Station No. 1 located at 216 State Route 8, Cold Brook, NY, 13324 for the purposes of: 1) electing two Commissioners for five (5) year terms, commencing January 1, 2019 and ending December 31, 2023: 2) electing two Commissioners for four (4) year terms, commencing January 1, 2019 and ending December 31, 2022; 3) electing one Commissioner for a three (3) year term commencing January 1, 2019 and ending December 31, 2021; 4) electing one commissioner for a two (2) year term, commencing January 1, 2019 and ending December 31, 2020; 5) electing one Commissioner for a one (1) year term, commencing January 1, 2019 and ending December 31, 2019.

      Pursuant to Town Law Sections 174(2) and 189-e, the two candidates receiving the highest and second highest number of votes for the office of fire commissioner shall be elected for terms of five years; the two candidates receiving the third and fourth highest number of votes shall be elected for terms of four years; the candidate receiving fifth highest number of votes shall be elected for a term of three years; the candidate receiving the sixth highest number of votes shall be elected for a term of two years; the candidate receiving the seventh highest number of votes shall be elected to a term of one year.

     Candidates for the office of Fire District Commissioner shall file their names and petitions with the signatures of twenty-five resident electors of the Fire District at the Fire District Offices 216 State Route 8, Cold Brook, NY 13324 or by email at [email protected], no later than 11:59 PM on November 19, 2018. Blank petitions may be obtained at the Fire District Offices at 216 State Route 8 or requested by email at [email protected].

    Only those persons who are residents of the Poland Joint Fire District on or before November 19, 2018 and who are also registered to vote with the respective Herkimer or Oneida County Boards of Elections on or before November 19, 2018 shall be eligible to vote in this election
